Ailey II's home season opens tonight at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, and we can't wait to see what the company's bright young talents have in store. (And since more than half of the main company is drawn from its sister troupe, we're eager to get first looks at the dancers who could be the next Jamar Roberts or Alica Mack Graf.) There are four new works on tonight's program, by Jessica Lang, Benoit-Swan Pouffer, Amy Hall Gardner, and Malcolm Low—as new director Troy Powell explains in these videos, he chose the choreographers specifically for their contrasting styles. Tomorrow's "Returning Favorites" evening holds more familiar fare—pieces by Ailey, Judith Jamison, and Powell. Both programs will be repeated over the next two weeks; get your tickets here.
