Dresden Semperoper Ballett soloist Sarah Hay, who was a corps dancer in Black Swan, will play the lead in Starz’s new ballet drama “Flesh and Bone,” currently scheduled to air in 2015. ▩ The Joffrey Ballet will launch the Joffrey Studio Company with the 2014–15 season. Its 10 dancers will receive full scholarships to the Joffrey Academy of Dance, take class with trainees and have opportunities to perform with the main company. ▩ Gabriel Smeets has signed a four-year contract to become artistic director of the Cullberg Ballet. ▩ Former English National Ballet dancer Vadim Muntagirov debuted as a Royal Ballet principal in March. ▩ Isaac Hernández was promoted to principal dancer at Dutch National Ballet. ▩ Oregon Ballet Theatre principal Alison Roper retires this month. ▩ Principal dancer Yumiko Takeshima will give her last performance with the Dresden Semperoper Ballett in April. She will continue running her Yumiko Dancewear line. ▩ Paris Opéra Ballet étoile Isabelle Ciaravola retired in February.

Baryshnikov Arts Center has announced a new fellowship program, the Cage Cunningham Fund, which will annually award $50,000 to one dance artist, beginning December 2015. ▩ Bard College has announced its 2014 Live Arts Bard spring resident artists: Sarah Michelson was granted a four-year fellowship and Jack Ferver and Ralph Lemon will receive semester-long engagements.
