LECTURER IN DANCE: Thriving B.A. dance program at Muhlenberg College, an excellent liberal arts institution located less than two hours from Manhattan, seeks candidates for full-time non-tenure track position as Lecturer in Dance beginning Fall 2013. Significant record of achievement as a dance artist/educator in African/African diaspora dance forms and a terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) required. Teaching duties include both studio and theory courses. The position requires teaching courses in African dances and cultures in ways that meld history, theory and practice. Ability to teach in one or more additional dance techniques (i.e. modern/contemporary, jazz, or ballet) plus expertise teaching in history/cultural/performance studies, somatic practices, dance science, or other dance aligned fields of study desirable. Must have the capacity to incorporate diverse perspectives into theory and studio courses and a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts learning. Additional responsibilities include mentoring student writing and choreography, involvement in concert productions, participation in recruiting, academic advising and college committee assignments. The dance program serves 75-100 majors, plus dance minors and the larger college population. Competitive salary and benefits. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, COMMERCIAL DANCE: Pace Performing Arts invites applications for an Assistant Professor to teach jazz technique (Beginner through Advanced levels) and possibly beginning ballet. Beginning Tap dance experience is a plus. Pace Performing Arts is rapidly expanding its faculty, students, staff and facilities. Strategically located in lower Manhattan, Performing Arts BFA Commercial Dance Program - comprehensive training from classical dance technique to all styles of commercial dance - seeks to build strong linkages to the professional and artistic communities of New York City. Applicant should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching at the university level with 3 or more years of experience as an educator and performer. Candidate may be asked to aid director of the program with administrative duties. There will also be an opportunity to choreograph for Main Stage concerts. MFA preferred.
