BUTLER UNIVERSITY, Jordan College of the Arts seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Dance, Tenure Track, effective Fall, 2013. Responsibilities include Teach Ballet Technique for undergraduate dance majors at the Advanced, pre-professional levels; commitment to teaching in the core curriculum, academic or movement-related course(s) plus one or more of the following: Pointe Technique, Men's Ballet Technique, Body Conditioning, Choreography, dance academics. Create choreography for the Butler Ballet; evidence and commitment to advising undergraduate dance majors, serve on departmental, college and university committees. Qualified candidates will have evidence of excellence in Ballet Technique, demonstrated experience in pedagogy a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives, demonstrated research interests and/or other dance subjects as stated above that may include scholarship in areas related to diversity; evidence of professional career and at least three years of university and/or professional teaching experience; M.F.A. preferred or equivalent. The successful candidate will demonstrate ballet as a first language and exhibit a breadth of understanding of newer disciplines.
