Here are the latest promotions, appointments, and departures, as well as notable awards and accomplishments, from October 2025.

Comings & Goings

At New York City Ballet, Victor Abreu, Dominika Afanasenkov, India Bradley, Naomi Corti, Mary Thomas MacKinnon, and Andres Zuniga have been promoted to soloist. Bradley is the first African American female soloist in the company’s history.

Mthuthuzeli November has been appointed resident choreographer of Charlotte Ballet.

Shayla-Vie Jenkins has been appointed rehearsal director at the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company.

Awards & Honors

Alice Sheppard and Laurel Lawson jointly received the Knight Choreography Prize, which includes a $30,000 unrestricted grant and $20,000 in programmatic support, from the National Center for Choreography-Akron.

Recipients of 3Arts Awards, which come with a $30,000 grant, include Wendy Clinard, Chih-Jou Cheng, and Torrence “Tea Buggz” Griffin.

Recipients of Foundation for Contemporary Arts’ 2025 Creative Research Grants, which award $10,000 to each selected artist, include mayfield brooks, Rashida Bumbray, Wally Cardona, Miguel Alejandro Castillo Le Maitre, Yanira Castro, Gabriel Mata, and Anh Vo.

Washington Performing Arts awarded 2025 Pola Nirenska Dance Awards to Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves (Outstanding Achievement in Dance) and Karen Bernstein and Andy Torres (Lifetime Achievement in Dance).

Darrell Grand Moultrie received a 2024–25 Joe A. Callaway Award for Excellence in Choreography for his work on Goddess at The Public Theater.
