On June 12, Florida governor Ron DeSantis, exerting his line-item veto power, cut all state arts funding for 2024–25 to zero. $32 million had been slated to go to more than 600 arts organizations, ranging from large companies (Miami City Ballet lost $70,500, according to the Sun Sentinel) to small, education-based centers.
