Summer 2026 Internships at Dance Media

Are you a college student who’s passionate about dance and eager to gain hands-on experience in the industry? Dance Media is looking for Summer 2026 Sales, Editorial, Social Media, Art, Events, and Email Marketing Interns! All internships are for academic credit.

Location: Remote

Duration: June to August

Hours: 12–15 hours per week

Sales Interns 

Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Sales Interns to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a current student seeking college credit who has a strong passion for dance, and an interest in business, marketing, or sales. This opportunity will offer a detailed look at the commercial side of our day-to-day business operations. 

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. New initiative research
2. Dance industry research
3. Database management
4. Client sourcing  
5. Prospecting
6. Looking up contact information
7. Working with our CRM system
8. Pulling lists of sponsors for upcoming industry events

Editorial Interns

Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Editorial Interns to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a current student seeking college credit who’s equally passionate about dance and journalism. This opportunity will offer a detailed look at the production of print and digital magazines.

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. Meet with editors to learn the editorial process from pitch to publish
2. Prepare background research on artists, companies, trends, or relevant topics
3. Contribute short-form pieces for print or web, with the opportunity to receive editorial feedback
4. Upload and tag content in WordPress
5. Support newsletter production
6. Help to maintain editorial archive, updating website as necessary
7. Conduct archival research in support of Dance Magazine’s upcoming 100th anniversary
8. Attend editorial meetings and company events as appropriate

Writing Requirement: Applicants should include two to three writing samples, preferably articles.

Social Media Intern

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Social Intern to join our Dance Spirit team. The ideal candidate will be a current student seeking college credit who has a strong passion for dance, and an interest in all things social media. This opportunity will offer a detailed look at content creation and social media in the dance world!

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. Conduct research on current social media trends in the dance space
2. Brainstorm content for Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and more
3. Create and edit short form videos
4. Create captions for short form videos
5. Post short form videos to Instagram and TikTok
6. Conduct research on dance influencers
7. Communicate with dance influencers on social media for a variety of projects
8. Discuss results, metrics, and social media analytics with an eye toward audience growth

Art Intern

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Art Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a current student seeking college credit with a strong interest in dance and visual design. This opportunity will offer firsthand experience in a fast-paced media environment, supporting the design needs across our digital platforms, social channels, and publications. As Dance Media prepares to celebrate its 100-year anniversary, this role will also involve image research and archival support—providing a unique opportunity to engage with the visual history of dance.

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. Assist in creating digital assets for web, email, and social media
2. Help format and prepare layouts for digital and print publications
3. Resize and retouch images according to platform specifications
4. Organize and archive design files and photo assets
5. Conduct visual research and gather historical images from Dance Magazine’s archives
6. Participate in brainstorming sessions with editorial, marketing, and social teams
7. Support the development of brand-consistent graphics across Dance Media’s titles
8. Assist with visual content for special editorial projects and anniversary campaigns

Portfolio Requirement: Applicants should include a link to a digital portfolio showcasing examples of graphic design, illustration, image editing, or related visual work. Projects that demonstrate a clear visual point of view and thoughtful use of typography and layout are especially encouraged.

Events Intern

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Events Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a current student seeking college credit who has a can-do attitude, is creative in their approach to internet research, possess a comfort with owning vendor communications, and has an interest in problem solving. This opportunity will offer a detailed look at the commercial side of our day-to-day business operations! 

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. Observe in-person and virtual events
2. Help plan all events 
3. Events research
4. Create and share key associations lists with events team
5. Help with promotional materials for events
6. Brainstorm event ideas
7. Attend and help execute all events 

Email Marketing Intern

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Email Marketing Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate is a current student seeking college credit with a strong passion for dance and a growing interest in marketing, communications, or digital media. This internship offers hands-on experience in email strategy, audience engagement, and content execution, providing an inside look at how email marketing supports our day-to-day business and editorial operations. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, curious, and eager to learn how email marketing drives engagement in the dance and arts industry.

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

1. Assisting with the creation, scheduling, and deployment of email campaigns
2. Supporting newsletter production, including formatting, proofreading, and QA
3. Conducting dance industry and audience research to inform email content
4. Managing and organizing email lists and subscriber data
5. Working within our email marketing platform and CRM system
6. Pulling and segmenting lists for targeted campaigns and promotions
7. Monitoring basic email performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, etc.)
8. Assisting with A/B testing subject lines, send times, and content blocks

Intern Qualifications 

1. Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program 
2. Strong interest in dance and familiarity with different dance styles, genres, and artists
3. Excellent organizational skills
4. Effective communication skills
5. Proficiency in conducting online research
